Belfast School of Performing Arts Brings ‘Hamilton’ Icons to Belfast

The Belfast School of Performing Arts (BSPA) is beyond thrilled to announce an amazing coup for Northern Irelands leading theatre school, and an amazing chance for young musical theatre students to work with a team of celebrated professionals from the award winning musical, Hamilton.

In Easter 2019, from April the 22nd to the 26th, a week-long series of ‘Hamilton Masterclass’ workshops will be delivered by the Music Director for the US tour, Julian Reeve, Dance Supervisor for the US tour, Michael Mindlin, Associate Music Director for Broadway, Ian Weinberger and Co-Dance Captain for the US tour, Karli Dinardo.

In this once in a lifetime opportunity students will learn the original choreography and vocals from the show.

Winner of 11 Tony Awards and 7 Olivier Awards including Best Musical, the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album, Hamilton has smashed box office records and has become a cultural sensation.

Hamilton is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary. The score blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway – the story of America then, as told by America now.

Julian Reeve, Music Director for the US tour of Hamilton, added “We are really excited to be heading to Belfast from Los Angeles next year, and hope you’re going to be able to join us!  I’ve been speaking with my good friend Peter Corry and Tina McVeigh from the Belfast School of Performing Arts, and we’re really excited to work with the fabulous talent we have been told about in Belfast.  So sign-up, and we’ll see you in April!”
