Jack and the Beanstalk headline cast announced

Belfast’s Grand Opera House has announced that the headline cast of last year’s record-breaking panto, Peter Pan, will reunite for Jack and the Beanstalk this Christmas.

May McFettridge returns to the Theatre’s iconic stage in the role of Dame May Trot – her 29th consecutive Grand Opera House pantomime! Joining May is the double Olivier award-winning actor David Bedella as pantomime’s ultimate baddie, and the giant’s henchman, Fleshcreep. David played the role of Captain Hook in Peter Pan last Christmas, seen by over 75,200 people during its six week run.

Born in Chicago, David Bedella won his first Olivier award (Best Actor in a Musical) in 2004 for his performance in Jerry Springer – The Opera, and 10 years later added a second (Best Supporting Actor) for In the Heights.  In recent years David has played Frank N Furter in the Rocky Horror Show in London, and Roger De Bris in the UK tour of Mel Brooks’ The Producers.

Jack and the Beanstalk’s executive producer, Michael Harrison, has produced numerous shows in the West End, on tour, and around the world, including Young Frankenstein, Annie, Beautiful The Carole King Musical, Funny Girl, Gypsy, Benidorm Live, and The Bodyguard. For Qdos Entertainment he has produced and directed the company’s smash-hit pantomimes Cinderella and Dick Whittington, both at the London Palladium.

Jack and the Beanstalk will also see the award-winning West End director and choreographer, Andrew Wright direct his first ever Grand Opera House pantomime. Andrew is a double Olivier Award nominee and double WhatsonStage Award winner. His recent credits include Half a Sixpence and Barnum, both for Cameron Mackintosh, Five Guys Named Moe, Singin’ in the Rain, and Guys and Dolls.
