The 1975 get Belfast bouncing!

The pop rock band we last saw at Bushmills Live in 2014, how was that 5 years ago already! Three number one albums later and they are still killing it, this time in the SSE Arena Belfast to support their album, ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’.

Unbelievably they haven’t had a top 10 hit in the UK; makes you wonder about the singles chart which I grew up recording every Sunday night on my cassette recorder… in those days it was the be all and end all…maybe not any more, it’s all about albums and amazing tours. And these guys certainly know how to pull an amazing tour out of the bag, they can pack out the SSE arena to a greater capacity than quite a few artists we’ve seen recently. And they can give an arena full of happy people enjoying music, singing along and having the absolutely best time

These guys have great energy and style, and for those old schoolers out there, Matty Healy reminded us a little of Jamiroquai, but maybe that was the use of a treadmill!!

This was one hell of a stage, a riot of colour and movement, secret performance areas which appeared and disappeared, coloured cubes and squares which floated above the stage.

The Belfast date was the first of the tour and if you’re going, you’re in for a treat. Standout track? Gosh it’s hard to choose, it was all so good; The Sound had the whole audience bouncing on the count of 4, our seats felt like a bouncy castle!

Matty said they were ‘having the time of our lives’, I think the fans were as well.
